Deathbard Thanny never disappoints across their eight-year discography, combining infinite influences like some alternative Avatar. And the sounds are wild when they reach you. "It's scream rap and alt rap. I like what I'm doing right now. Feels more me."
He's an artist on a mission: rhyming over fierce 808's with industrial soundscapes at times, nu-metal tones of antifascism on 'Rebel's Revel' at others! We weren't surprised at the political overtones after 'Tactical Anarchist' either.
'Thannarchist' is a different beast. It ain't for the faint-hearted. You could call this a dark beacon in dark times. "The first things I ever got into were darkwave...Depeche Mode, New Order. I like the fusion of what it is." These inspirations appear here but Thanny's sound is its own.
Beautifully harsh synthesizer and energetic, cyber-punk drum beats catch listeners as they go. Then Deathbard adds a layer of lyrical anarchy. "Only usin' fire but I mastered every element/Eloquent, gellin' it/Politicians die when they don't wanna quit/...D-I-E, that's all that I be tellin' em!"
Thanny brings doom with revolutionary fire. Heat rises and probably is burning said congressman's ears right now. 'Thannarchist' says to hell with their feelings. Industrial punk rebellion is a mood for the 20-forever's.
"Harbinger, arbiter, hero of the commoner/Hateful is our savior knowing he won't claim our moniker". Remiss if we ignored the critical fusion of sound and theme here.
"Screaming on an 808 just feels right in general."

does his fair share to great results. Pulsing percussion gives a certain flavor
to distorted electro-riffs before a truly iconic bar: "This world is crazy and
it's hard to live in safety/And there's no one here to save us 'cause the savior
needed saving!"

"Fuck peace, turn The Beatles off/We can all bleed to a brand-new sing-along/Ice-cold but the heat is on/If we lose our species, we should leave it gone!" Scary sentiment and understandable too. The true wizardry is that you can't help but head-bang anyway.
